Taking a voyage into the great outdoors can be a great way to help connect or reconnect with your spiritual center. Having the wide open space and roughing it mentality on a camping trip can be a fantastic way to get back in touch with nature, which will let you get back in touch with yourself. If you want to spend a weekend camping, or you only want to take a hiking daytrip, spending some quality time in the wilderness is a great way to unwind.

The change of scenery alone will allow you to open your mind and heart to new experiences. The crisp fresh air is bound to be a relief from the crowded highways you face Monday to Friday. Even if you only plan on spending a few hours on a hike or other wilderness trek, take the time to absorb the experience. Maybe even sit down and meditate for a moment. Something in your mind might become inspired.

On a longer, overnight camping trip, being able to embrace the wilderness and live without modern conveniences will allow you to achieve a sense of what is important, in that moment. Like Henry David Thoreau in his classic book, Walden, experiencing the enjoyment of simplicity and self-reliance can lead to feelings of transcendentalism. Transcending the trivial will allow you to reorganize your mind and bring your spiritual center to a beautiful balance.

When you eventually return to normal living, try to keep the experience close at heart for as long as possible. Any observations you might have made about yourself in the wilderness will still be applicable after returning home. If you thought of any new meditation practices, try applying them to your regular routine. These new ideas can spice up an old routine or motivate you to incorporate even more meditation practices into your already existing regimen.

Even a short excursion into the great outdoors can have a massive impact on your spiritual center. Nature's own artwork has inspired artists for as long as there has been art, and there is no reason why it cannot inspire you as well. The sublime presence of an enormous mountain overlooking a river might take your breath away and open your mind. A sudden clearing in the woods with a flowery floor provides the perfect space for soul-searching meditation. Feel the ease of mind from the scenery change and apply whatever you take away from the experience to other aspects of your life.
